King Tiger, Tamiya 1/48 (\"pl\" English) Print E-mail

Ficticious tank, pressed into service at the very end of the war...

I was inspired by a great model of the King Tiger made by Dimitry Kiyatkin and available in gallery displayed on Missing Lynx.  I know that the details are not 100% realistic (i.e. primer used on german tank barrels was gray and not reddish), but, just like Dimitry, I treated this model more like a study of the "boring yellow camo" than the actual, realistic model.  Unfortunately, I went a little bit too far with dirt and chipping - I hope that the lesson learned will be the ability to stop at the right moment when building another similar tank :).

Engine grills are from Hauler, the rest of the details are scratch-built using evergreen, aluminium from a soda can and copper wire.

Painted using Tamiya paints.  Filters, washes and pastels are from MIG.
